The Ballad of Gay Tony brings the GTA IV saga to a close and Rockstar wanted to go all out for the finale.

This is quite an interesting quote. I wonder whether its just a slight misprint.
I'm sure R* have already said there will be more DLC coming for all formats, so presumably IGN mean that it will bring the 360's exclusive saga to a close?

There's been no confirmation of any further DLC releases, that of brand new ones or re-releases on different platforms.

So the quote is just saying the GTA IV saga will end with TBOGT and go out with a bang.

I'd prefer if it ended with Gay Tony and started with hinting out the next GTA.

So does it just mean that there will be no more DLC for GTAIV period or is it just the end of the exclusive 360 DLC.
If there's no official confirmation from R* whether or not there will be anymore (cross platform) releases then ho can IGN make that statement?

That's kind of a good thing... yes, the episodes are great, but I can't play them, since my 360 killed my copy of GTA4, and then red ringed... so unless it's released for the PS3, I won't be able to play any future expansions... and neither will half of the GTA fanbase. It would be great to see a new "real" GTA announced for both platforms, something we can all look forward to and get excited about.

Honestly I hope Rockstar doesn't do this exclusive DLC stuff again. If there's going to be any DLC, I hope they make it for both systems simultaneously.

I also hope they don't do it exclusive again.
But the ambiguity of IGN's quote still remains (for me anyway).

We know this 2nd DLC is the last exclusive DLC for the 360, but is it the last DLC period?

Only two are official, Rockstar have said they'd like to continue with DLC, but from the start only TLAD and TBOGT were planned and funded with Microsofts $50 Million. Plus in one of the hands-on, I think it was the IGN one, it was known from the start that Liberty City was going to have three stories happening at the same time and that they chose Nikos to be the main one whilst reserving the other two as DLC. So with that in mind, and the money from Microsoft used to fund TWO episodes then I'd say it is quite likely that TBOGT is the last DLC for GTA IV, by the time TBOGT comes out, GTA IV will be over a year and half old so I think it would be fair to say that Rockstar have supported the game with DLC and will be moving onto the next city in the GTA IV era.

@Timbud: Yes, for 360.

that's gonna suck if they end it... I really think they should of continued with nikos story! i honestly think they planned on it but that whole incident with the voice actor not gettin paid enough and shit so he didnt stick around. niko is the man imo, johnny was ok and luis looks kinda cool but niko had such an awsome story and background an honestly they could of done alot more with him

I hope it's the end of exclusives at least.. that felt like a kick in the balls from Rockstar

It surely is the end of exclusive DLC for Xbox, but if I remember correctly back in 2007 R* said there will also be DLC for the PS3 that is not very story oriented, but just weapons and vehicles.

Anyway ever since they announced the content being available on disc, I feel that they are preparing the PS3 owners for a surprise, if you know what I mean. Being digitally distributed in the first place, it looked pretty much exclusive for the Xbox, but going for the disc media, I can't help but think 'why not?'

Because Microsoft has a contract with Rockstar for exclusivity.

Yes I know they do but what I'm suggesting here is that may be the exclusivity in this contract is only for a limited amount of time.

yes they may be timed exclusives but until rockstar announces they are coming to ps3 they will remain 360 exclusives and we have no evidence otherwise atm

It's not a direct qoute from Rockstar so personally i presume the additions to the GTA IV story.
If Rockstar are creatures of habit, i think we can expect a GTA IV Vice City next year.
The last i read or heard they were working on a Gta title for 2010 so it's just a presumption.

Does anybody really think that they're just gonna drop IV's Liberty City? Nah.

They've put too much time and work into it for them to just say 'fuck it' and move on. It's a work.

Isnt the same team that handled GTA IV doing Agent for the PS3? If so, that would put a real damper on more DLC. This isnt like new weapons and stuff. Its basically a new game each time.

Im inclined to think this is the end of GTA IV. As its been said, its an older game now, already on the Platinum Hits deal, and Im sure interest has been waning now. The long waits dont do them any good. Im not too sad if it is the end though. It was great, but Im ready for GTA V or GTA IV: New place, new game, etc.

Liberty City certainly looks dated (in the video game sense) now, but Id gladly go back if they decide to do more, I just dont think they are going to.

I think I posted this earlier, but I think R* were just using the DLC as a way to configure a balance between realism - story - and awesomeness. I think TBoGT had a good balance. And because of this, the balance will be copied over onto a new GTA
