The game looks promising, I liked the trailer a lot. This is very different from Red Dead Revolver, though, which is better since Revolver was pretty linear. This is open world. :D

Is the main character now based off Clint Eastwood, those two poses are very similar to Dirty Harry and Blondie from The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.

IGN has recently got a chance to sit down with Rockstar Games and watch them play Red Dead Redemption Demo. We got the Important points from the Preview Below.

* Player - Marston (Former Outlaw, Started his family and given up his previous life of Traveling Around)
* Working on Red Dead Redemption - Rockstar San Diego, Rockstar North, and Rockstar Leeds
* Engine - Euphoria (GTA IV, Midnight Club LA), Table Tennis
* The Open world is divided up into three large Territories: Frontier, Mexico and Northern territories
* Pistols, rifles and shotguns, lasso or kerosene
* Controlling Marston not Like Revolver controlling multiple Characters in Single Mode
* Deadeye mode still in the game (slow time for accurate shooting)
* You can't own property
* All Marston Equipment shows on his body
* Regenerative health (No Health Packs) Like COD
* Player can Blind Fire/ Cover - Better Shooting
* Depending on a Guns not all of them are entirely accurate - Realistic feel
* Deadeye Fighting while on a Horse
* Marston can carry 4 Items
* The more you ride Horse the better it will behave
* Dueling is back in Redemption
* Riders can fall from there Ride and can get there Foot stuck in a stirrup

* Players can ride - Trains, Horse, Hop into horse-drawn stagecoach, skip the scenes - (Riding a Taxi in
GTA IV)

* GTA IV ****mini Hud on a Screen
* Full Day and Night Cycle

* Side Missions - (could be decoy) Need Help In one instance demoed by Rockstar, a gang of armed bandits emerged from behind a busted wagon after Marston was drawn in by a lady calling for assistance.

* Larger Township will be built up - telegraph wires
* Kill someone will take time for them to re-spawn

* In towns players will have Freedom to walk around and enter Saloons, Banks, Offices, and other type of Business

* MiniGames - Only one Featured in the Demo five finger filet - Player sit down at a wooden table with an NPC and engage in a timing game where you need to tap face buttons on your controller to match up with knife strikes onscreen. The goal is to quickly tap the table between your fingers with a knife without cutting into your hand and if you're successful, other NPCs will step in to try and challenge you.

* Multiplayer Included

* One of the Mission IGN Saw was - One mission we saw involved a botched prisoner exchange, where Marston and some officers were handing someone over to a group of outlaws to rescue an officer's daughter. The bandits didn't cooperate and the situation escalated into an all-out gun fight in the middle of the small, dusty town. After taking cover and using Deadeye to wipe out a few enemies, a cutscene was triggered where a lady named Bonnie was strung up on a gallows. This introduced a timed element to the mission, as it was a goal to get to get her down before the life was choked out of her. To get through the mission, you can either battle all the way through the bandits to the gallows and cut Bonnie down, or you can actually just shoot the rope that's holding her up.

* Second Mission IGN saw was - The next two missions were more escort-****quests, the first of which involved Marston defending the stagecoach of a snake oil merchant. As it charged forward, Marston shot at riders coming in from all sides, taking out riders or their horses to flip them to the ground. At one point an enemy stagecoach rolled in as well, as Marston was able to slow it down by wiping out a few of the horses who pulled it along, letting the snake oil merchant gradually increase the spacing between them. At various points there'd be blockades in the road and to take them out while riding along it'll be necessary to peg an explosive barrel and clear the debris.

* Last Mission IGN saw was - Finally, we saw a mission set in Mexico where Marston rode on horseback to defend a train from inbound hostiles. To facilitate having to control your horse while aiming at the same time, there'll be a degree of intelligence built in so the animals won't get hung up on rocks and such when trying to peg an enemy with a rifle bullet. Though missions like this might take place with groups of friendly NPCs fighting alongside Marston, he won't have a regular group he rolls around with. He's generally a lone wolf.

Interesting that North and Leeds are working on it too, you'd think they'd be busy. Especially Leeds, the company that does PORTABLE games, who've finished Chinatown Wars a few months back, is that a bit of a hint that RDR is on its way to PSP or DS too? As for North, would explain why they've not released a patch for TLAD yet for those people who've had problems with it and why we've not heard any news about Episode 2 yet.

Red Dead Redemption IGN: Five Reasons to Love

IGN has posted May 8TH Article about Red Dead Redemption with New Screens.IGN Explains The Wide Open West,Natural Motion Horses, Duels, and Notoriety. I suggest you read them for better explaination.

Quote: IGN

The Wide Open West

Though Rockstar gets the credit for spawning the open-world craze, at this point I've seen all the metropolises I can handle. It is, in all honesty, starting to feel a little "been there, done that." But a wide open West is quite a different beast. For the most part, videogame Westerns have been shackled to linear level design that focused on stylish gunplay, but lacked the atmospheric elements of the Wild West. If Rockstar nails the landscape and social aspects of its three Western locales (the frontier, Old Mexico and the Northern territories), then exploration is going to be something very unique and exciting as compared to other open-world games.

In a way, the West was like the world of Fallout. It's a place of isolation. But unlike Bethesda's dystopian world, the West is moving from a savage place towards one of civility (or at least refined savagery). Red Dead's story takes place at the turn of the century, as the West is confronted with the birth of modern industry. The setting is only going to help create the proper sense of desperation that swept across the outlaws of the Old West in its final years. In some ways, the themes may be very similar to those of GTA IV. Hopefully, Rockstar can pull it off.

I'd Like a Side of Spaghetti with My Western

I've seen my fair share of Westerns, but no subset of the genre appealed to me more than Spaghetti Westerns. It's a perfect fit for a game, because the exaggerated ****of these films allows for hats to be shot off an enemy's head and the gun blown out of their hand. The stories in these movies don't suffer. Clint Eastwood's "Man with No Name" trilogy is a perfect example of three ****c Western tales filled with betrayal, surprises, villainy and anti-heroism. I'd be pretty shocked to learn that these films (and others like them) didn't have a major influence of the Grand Theft Auto series as a whole, let alone Red Dead Redemption. And yes, with the Deadeye Mode (aka bullet time) you can target just about anything on an enemy.

Natural Motion Horses

Red Dead Redemption may be set in the West, but its technology shares a lot with GTA IV. As with the latest GTA title, Redemption uses Rockstar's RAGE engine and Natural Motion's amazing Euphoria technology. What's that all mean? No pre-canned animations. And the ability for the body to react to bullets and other unexpected collisions. One of my biggest problems with past videogame Westerns were the horses. They never looked quite right and riding them always seemed unnatural. But with Euphoria, the horses will move and react to changes in the terrain and collisions. Riders will be thrown by sudden stops and characters should tumble off horses more organically than the pre-determined animations of the past. Let's just hope legs can get caught in stirrups and wounded enemies will be dragged behind their rides.

Duels

There's not much I can say about one-on-one gunfights, since Rockstar hasn't shown that off to anybody. So I can't exactly say I love what they are doing (maybe I will, but who the heck knows how a duel will work). Still, I am excited about the very prospect of duels when you consider that the previously mentioned technology and the Spaghetti Western aspects should make for some really cool moments. The real trick will be if Rockstar can nail the high level of tension that precedes just about every duel in movie history.

Notoriety

Red Dead Redemption doesn't feature a traditional morality system like Fallout. To my knowledge, you won't have the option to be the good (Gary Cooper), the bad (Deadwood's Swearengen) or the morally ambiguous (Eastwood's Blondie). The story is going to drive you where you need to go without the kind of branching paths seen in some other games. That's fine by me. What is interesting is how the "wanted level" works.

You can be evil if you want. Go shoot up a whole damned town if it makes you happy. But the worse you are, the more heavily the law will come down on you. Wanted posters will appear in town, posses will be formed. And unlike GTA IV, where getting free of the search radius resets your wanted level, in Red Dead Redemption, people have longer memories. Shot up a bunch of churchgoers? Head back to that same town soon after and people are going to remember your face. Bad things are going to happen.

While it's going to take a very long play test to see how well the notoriety system works, what I know about it so far sounds very promising. And for the record, everyone wants to be the Man with No Name. So if Red Dead Redemption keeps your character's morality in the grey, more power to Rockstar.

Red Dead Redemption: A Man and His Horse (IGN Interview Dan Houser)
IGN has released first part of the interview with Dan Houser talking about Red Dead Redemption (CO-Founder of Rockstar). We summarized some Details from the Interview.

"We loved the mechanic of Deadeye and thought it was executed very nicely for the time...so we wanted to keep that and keep the Wild West theme"

"he's a guy who tried and for a few years succeeded in changing his life around and is coming to see that that is impossible."

As you play through the game, you start to uncover more about his backstory and his family life and these characters that he's looking for and how their relationships are entwined and what went down between them.

"There are lots of things that were inspired by things we learned doing GTA and it would be nonsensical to pretend that there weren't. It's great that this game can take benefit from that experience and that knowledge base. On the other hand, it's a very different game with a very different set of challenges that it created for us and hopefully a different tone. There are so many things in [Redemption] that are just completely not things that we would imagine you doing in GTA. Riding horses, riding stagecoaches, using a lasso, hunting animals in such a structured way, the setting is so different from a GTA."

Red Dead Redemption - IGN Interview Part 2

IGN has released 2nd part of the Interview with Dan Houser.Dan Houser gives us some interesting details. Quotes from the Interview.

"I think there's 40 animals you can hunt, various levels of them, which I think has got to be a very large number for a non-hunting game."
"The technology is just 'What can we do?'

"There's so many mini-games and side activities, things you can do and ways you can interact with people, that not everyone can do everything just from the sheer volume of dialogue you would need to do it."

"Charging around on horses and stagecoaches and trains, shooting each other in a multiplayer world. It's pretty epic"
