So I popped in my copy of GT4 and took a spin on the nurburgring in a Opel Astra Touring Car '00. I cranked up the difficulty to max and went at it. I had five bobbles, minor, and over those two laps (in arcade mode) I managed a 13'13.490. Not impressive, but a solid time.

So basically, if you've got a copy of GT4 and want to throw down the gauntlet....let's do it. I plan on trying to get a better time for two weeks. So you have two weeks to do this.

There are only a few parameters.

1. It must be done in a stock opel astra touring car '00.

2. You can only use the quick tune options to adjust the power, weight, top speed, driving aids, transmission, and tire type.

3. You can use any tires you want, though obviously in arcade with a 2 lap race you want super soft tires.

4. It doesn't matter if you win, just your two quickest combined lap times for a given race. No seperate races with great individual lap times added up. Just one race. I say it doesn't matter if you win because GT4 likes to throw in those insanely fast unbeatable cars from time to time...like the last race I was in....guy crushed me by 12 seconds while I finished in second 9 seconds ahead of third....

5. You must get a picture of the two combined times. It's easy to do this, just save the replay and when you do at the top of the screen it will show the combines lap times, snap a picture, profit.

Any questions? If not go at it. It's an easy challenge. I'll even send the winner an original copy of wipeout from the PS1 (big cardboard box and all), my prized Rufus Griffin action figure:

As well as a VHS copy of Waynes World, and a DVD copy of Spaceballs. Maybe I'll throw in some other random shit too....who knows.

EDIT:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: ::::::::::::::::

One more thing, post what your quick tune settings were, and if possible snap a picture of them too. It's not necessary but it will help some people understand differences in performance....possibly.

Ok I just did it again. My Aspec points were at 182 for this race. My closest competitor was a Pagoni Zonda, which finished about 10 seconds behind me.

My combined time was: 13'09.653. I had two considerable bobbles. Both on the last third section of the track (where it greats really technical, usually turns in 3rd gear.) However I've managed to find better coast/brake/acceleration points for the first two thirds of the track. Where most of the LM CPU controlled cars were coasting or breaking I was accelerating and carrying way more speed than they were, especially after the uphill to right hander near the middle of the track where you get airborne for a second.

My quick tune set up was this:

Power: +0%
Weight: +0%
Top Speed: 360km
Driving Aids: TCS and ASM
Transmission: Manual
Tiretype: Racing Super Soft in front and back.

I think if I increase the weight a little and drop the top speed a little it will make the car less prone to bounce around in the technical parts of the track and give me quicker acceleration overall, especially in the technical parts, without killing my top speed on the long straight.

Oh and for those guys who think jacking up the power in quicktune will help a ton, thing again. it completely changed the lines needed and the breaking points, not to mention the apex's of turns. Some power might help, but you really need to find the right breaking points and get the top speed and weight matched just right.
