On February 5th, very quietly, without telling anyone, Bethesda trademarked the name "Fallout" in connection with movies and television. Specifically, for "Entertainment services in the nature of an on-going television program" and for "motion picture films about a post-nuclear apocalyptic world."

Before you start mentally preparing for the motion-picture event that will be the Fallout! The Movie! keep in mind, this doesn't necessarily mean Bethesda has any immediate plans to make a Fallout movie, but they certainly don't want anyone else to make one. You have to protect your property.

I'm looking into whether a Fallout movie or TV show is in the works at all, and I'll let you know if I find anything out. But in the meantime, Fallout movie/TV Show: Good idea or bad one? I lean toward it being a bad idea, because I love the game series so much, I don't want to watch an inferior film or TV show come out of it.

If it were a movie, it would be more cinematic, which I would like.
But on the other hand, if it were a TV show, they would have more time to fit the elements from the game in the show, and possibly put the series on another level.

yea they should stop making movies based on video games
very few are actually decent movies and none truly capture the experience of the game

A TV series could be good.

What's wrong with the idea of a TV Fallout series? It's not like there's a main character to miscast, or any sort of story that HAS to be followed in order not to pervert the games (besides the back story of how the world came to be like this). Get some proper writers (and please not any of the ones for LOST), set up shop in Australia, have Ron Perlman do the opening monologue at the start of the first episode and fill the rest of the cast with talented unknowns. Bam. CGI destroyed buildings, roads and powerlines galore.
Also, HBO plz.
