It doesn't work when you have purchased the game via Steam.

Only loads the game as usual when trying to enter a server.

Best wishes, Carbon

So I'll explain it again;

I have bought the game via application called Steam(http://store.steampowered.com/about/).

I start the VC-O as normal, it gives me this window of servers list(just like sa-mp does). Then once I click on a server, comes this text from Steam application "Preparing to launch Vice City...". Next the game starts as usual single player does and plays the same too lol.

For some additional information:
I have Windows XP

Ok, here is what you have got to do:

1. First you need to download the Vice City Online Client (http://www.gtagaming.com/downloads/gta-vice-city/misc-mods/2397) to get the servers you want to join or create, after download Install the program

2. Second, you should download the Vice City Online Windows (http://www.gtagaming.com/downloads/gta-vice-city/misc-mods/2398) to enabling the game for online playing, when download finished, extract the the ZIP and copy the files in the game's directory then run the Vice City Online Client Program, select your game's root (directory) then click the servers you want to join in Favorites, Servers and Official section at the buttom of the program

3. For launching a server double click on your specific one, then the game will run

If these informations are not true, please someone correct them

Only way to launch it via STEAM, is to use command line parameters. For example: "s 127.0.0.1 p 7777 n nickname", you'll need to ask ReGeX or Koolio about them.

Command line usage will most likely fix it, there you need to input the server ip address, your nickname and perhaps something else. I suggest you ask ReGeX about it.

poponorto, Google translation is fail, even local newspapers made fun of it about how it translated the Estonian anthem...

Just thought i'd add a post here...

As far as i'm aware, the VC purchased on steam is differant from any other VC version.
The current Vice City online multiplayers dont work with steam due to this reason. I'm fairly certain VCO wont work with it either (without a 1.0 crack)

Best option would be to find a 1.0 no cd crack, dont ask here because giving out a link would probably be against the rules.

Oh and for reference, the command line args are: -i <ip> -l <port> -a <name>

Feel free to correct me if vco does work with the steam version.
