Let's say we break the speed of sound, great prize.

Now think back, ever since I remember time is measured in light?
So theoretically speaking, if we could break the speed of light, could we travel in time?

ummmmm ive read stuff about this before but like always cant remeber everything, ive seen this thing about these scientists who were studying how to time travel and they said its impossible unless you have this highly concentrated yadda yadda yadda and then maybe it could work and they also said to the only way to travel faster then light is to use electron speed or something like that what they said is that our galaxy is made of positive electrons and if they can make these machines they can get anywhere in our galaxy by switching to negative electrons and get there in like one minute. what i said was very vauge i saw it on the universe or something like that its been a while but scientists said that if we wanna see our galaxy the negative electron idea was probably the most effecient.

fuck the asshole who neg repped me why dont you put your name down next to your neg rep you fucking piece of shit

your fuckin cool going on message boards neg repping people like some fuckin low life nerd bastard.

I doubt it. If we would ever be able to travel in time we would've travelled "back" to the present day to save ourselves from... ourselves. There have probably been hundreds of people who have claimed to be from the future, but really, it would be quite easy to prove that you really are from the future.

And besides, unlike light, time does not have a source, medium or end (as far as we know), therfore I think you are unable to unfluence, alter or 'ride' it.

We've discussed this at phycics class many years ago :P if Einstein's theories are correct (iirc) once you've passed the speed of light you'd travel BACK in time. Travelling exactly at the speed of light time would stand still, no past, no future only present.

There are some equations involving basic math for measuring time, speed etc. Try it yourself and you'll see it's possible, theoretically at least.

Well that's pretty much the theory behind it in a logical sense. But I think if we were to break the speed of light you would only be able to travel back in time to the point where the time machine was created as such.

Apparently you could only travel back to when time travel was "invented" because otherwise it doesnt exist.

One theory that seems relatively possible is using wormholes to travel through time. Basically you travel through a wormhole to somewhere say 50 light years away. The idea is when you arrive there, the light you would be seeing from the Earth (assuming Earth was visible), would be light from 1959, so theoretically if you were to travel back through the wormhole to the Earth, you would still be seeing the 1959 light from the Earth, and thus have traveled through time.

Just note my understanding of this sort of thing is very basic and very minimal, so don't take my word for it :P

Traveling at the speed of light is theoretically possible, but physically impossible. The theory is that after traveling for long enough, an air pocket would form behind the vehicle, and push it to light speed. The physics behind this are that if anything travels at the speed of light, its mass will infinitely expand. Worm holes is the best possible way to do something like time travel. The only problem is figuring out how to get through a wormhole.

In future will have long travels between further planets with speed of light or more than it

Check out a movie called Primer. Doesn't deal so much with how to travel time, but more the consequences of it. There are a lot of paradoxes.

Primer (2004)? Might look that up.

I don't think traveling at the speed of light will ever be possible. I could be wrong, though. And using wormholes seems kind of dangerous. And it has been said before: if time traveling was possible, someone would've gone back in time to tell us it was possible. And he would probably prevent a few disasters etc, etc. Unless... Just a thought, but some (or most) people say that everything happens for a reason and that changing the past would alter the future. Might be a risk they're not willing to take. Ok, that might be a little to far fetched.
