While playing TLAD the picture has a staticy effect almost like when your cable isnt coming in perfect.
Its only during gameplay and not during the pause menu or most cutscenes.
Sometimes its not as bad but other times it gives me a headache cause its harder to focus on the image.
Is anyone else experiencing this?
I don't think its my monitor or XBox since I never experienced this with any other game

From what I've heard, I believe there is a way to turn this filter off on the display options menu when the game is paused.

there's an option called Noise, turn that off
i find it terrible, i have no idea why they thought it was a good idea to make that on by default :P

I dunno, I kinda like it. Makes everything feel different...
Then again, I don't have an HD screen, maybe it looks worse on HD.

I thought it was cool for the first few missions then I turned it off.

I was also really bothered by this. I eventually went rummaging through the display section and foind the "Noise" section.

Could you guys consider this the GTA IV equivalent of "Trails?" :P
Judging from the name, it probably is just static.

Noise filter is pretty tough on the eyes. Even on the nice HDTVs I first played LaD on, it still was a little irritating on the eyes, so we turned it off real quick :p
As long as some people like it though... wonder what the effect will be in the next DLC? :p

The problem is, this effect looks good on SDTV's (only a little, still better to turn it off), most HDTV's have a Noise Filter, which tries to smooth out the image if Noise is present, so having the game produce Noise and having the TV try and get rid of it is going to make it look like shit.
If possible, I would suggest turning off your TV's noise reduction filter for HD sources anyway.

I loved the filter, it made Liberty City feel different.
In my very honest opinion, The Lost and Damned got me as engaged as I was with GTA III, Vice City, San Andreas and GTA IV, although it was just a DLC.
The only thing I was bothered by was the font they used for the Menus, Map and the Legend - it's thin and it's the same font size as the Arial font used in GTA IV, so it's now less visible - they should enlarge the font to make it more visible. I can stand in front of my 32" HDTV and still not make out what's the name of some of the new bikes.

Yeah, I've got a fairly small (by today's standards anyway) standard definition TV, and the noise filter adds a layer of grit that seems fitting, because when I take it off, everything's very clean and clear looking. But like HD666 said, I definitely have a problem with the fonts. In GTA IV, it was a little hard to read the phone, because of the size of my TV, and that's par for the course when it comes to HD games being played on a screen like this, but in TLAD, they made the text even harder to read, so I have to guess some of the words by the context. I sit in the floor in front of my TV when I play, and it's still difficult. I need to upgrade to a newer TV. :P

yesterday on xbox live i was in a whole room of people who thought something was wrong cus of that noise effect. we had a conversation about it on there and i mentioned the noise effect and how i turned it off and i didnt like it and everyone then turned it off and thanked me for helping get that off for them one guy even thought his tv was starting to malfunction and another thought his xbox was in the process of red ringing lol.

I love the noise effect, not only does it make the game feel different for me, but somehow ive found that it makes the graphics seem more alive, and it really does fit in with the theme of the game in my opinion.

And here I was thinking that I couldn't turn it off :P
I thought it was alright, it fit in with the game's atmosphere. But I think I prefer playing without the Noise effect on since I'm more used to it.

I started LaD and thought "Wow! This makes the cutscenes look really cool!" Then it stuck to regular game play. And it was still alright. Then I started getting annoyed and quickly found the option to turn it off.
A lot of gamers put small fortunes into HD gaming and I would think they'd want a clear picture. Glad they made the filter optional.

For those of you having a hard time reading the text on the phone, have you tried changing it? Just curious cause I didn't pay attention and found out after I had been playing for a couple of weeks that you can change the text size on your phone under the options in your phone which makes it much easier to read. I play on a 40 TV but I sit a decent distance back from the TV so the larger text helps me. Just a tip in case you didn't know.
As for me, I prefer to have the static turned off. I am a freak about clean and clear high resolution picture, which is part of the reason why I sit a good distance from the TV since everything is being upconverted. Having noise added to the picture gets on my nerves.

This isn't true. I checked. There's no text option on the phone or in the pause menu.

Is this noise option only available for the lost and damned, because I have never seen a noise option in the settings menu.

Here is the difference of it turned off and on, If I had the lost and damned, I would prefer it turned off, doesn't look good to me when it is turned on.

Yeah it is, I just double checked. The option is right under the phone theme. It should say text size"small". Click on it once and it will say text size large. Then exit out of the phone and all text will be larger on the phone.
