View Full Version : Should I buy an Xbox 360 for this?

I have the PlayStation 3 version of Grand Theft Auto. I really don't care for any other Xbox 360 game, I just really want to play The Lost and Damned and I can't because of this. This is the sole reason why I might regret buying the PlayStation 3 instead but otherwise I love it.

But for those of you playing and of experience: Is it worth it to buy a 360 for this?

Just give it time, if the past is anything to go by both the DLC packages will be released on the PS3 some time after their 360 release.

If not, I can pretty much guarantee that they will be made available on PC.

^ But didn't Microsoft pay $50 million to keep it exclusive?

I wouldn't buy a system just for some downloadable content
but if your willing to spend the 200-300 dollars for an xbox plus 60 for GTA IV and 20 for TLAD just to play it then go for it I personally don't think all that money is worth it for a single expansion to a game

Yes, but Sony did the same thing back in the PS2/Xbox days, and what happened? It only took a year or so for each 'exclusive' PS2 game to go to the Xbox

Correct me if I'm wrong, but those were timed exclusives, and this episodic content is exclusive completely. And even if you're right, I don't want to wait 2 years for some episodic content, by then I think the next installment will be released.

Typically, most exclusives are 'timed' exclusives, but are said not to be. I could be wrong, but I'm just saying that Rockstar has a bad habit of making exclusives not exclusive.

Zombienm is 100% right. Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories were said to be completely exclusive to the PSP system. However, they both came out on the PS2 months after their original release.

One may argue, but PSP and PS2 are both Sony products. A fair argument, though that is where my point comes in about this content being released on the PC. It's almost a guarantee, as games a rarely 100% exclusive to the 360 as Microsoft obviously own Windows as well.

Sure, you can go out and buy a 360 for the content, just don't be surprised in a few months if PS3 owners are playing it on their systems at home.

Edit: Quick question and a bit of an afterthought...

Do Rockstar get any of the money from all the people buying the content or is the $50 million from Microsoft their final paycheck? $25 Mil per package isn't that much when you look at it like this, considering they need to be paid for development costs, working hours, etc.

I'm a PS3 owner, and I am not going to spend around $400 just for a GTA4 extension. If anything, I might play it on a friends 360.

It might be several months (or a year) after the release of the second "Mission Pack" (episode my ass!) that you might
(- might - mind you) see them released for the ps3, depending on how well these "Mission Packs" sell on the x360.

You should wait for reviews before buying anything, to see if it's worth it. As for buying another system just for these "Mission Packs", it's a lot of money to spend just to play these.

The only other place I'd expect the DLC on is the PC.

There's absolutely no way MS allows it to go to the PS3. If they do, what a waste of freaking money, eh?

its pretty good im likin it a lot although i cant pay attention to the plot a lot because i got 4 hours of sleep and barely awake to play it

1. good storyline but very jumpy. dont expect the mass amount of details like in gta 4 there is detail in characters and in missions but not like in gta 4.
2.they have added a lot of things music is awesome bikes are really good new activities to do with your friends like air hockey and i really enjoyed the buyers market mission with niko and hearing him yell at the cops when they went after him was cool to
3.johnny is pretty cool but fuckin dark and scary you can tell he wants to die because for one he says it when he is in a shoot out and two his general attitutde towards things and he is also a huge asshole

so there i put my reasons on why you might, might not want it is it worth buying a 360 over that depends on how much of a gta fan you are and how much you like your ps3 i can say after i saw all the crappy games on the ps3 i got rid of mine and the bluray player was nothing to me but if you like your ps3 that much and think the games for 360 are bad then i would just say no.

I just got 100%... its not a HUGE expansion by itself, but its worth it. It does answer a lot of questions, and things you didn't question in the game. It took a solid 8 hours I'd say. New music, new vehicles, new storyline which is a really good storyline, but not epic like a typical GTA. Looking down the line, the episodic content would probably equal the amount of storyline and new features to be a new GTAIV, since there's going to be 2, unless that has changed... but anyway yeah really worth it. If you want to pick up a 360 then go for it, but you probably won't see the entire worth of the purchase until the 2nd episode release.

same thing i was thinkin by the second episode the whole episode contents will be about as long as gta 4s

I just had a chance to venture into the multiplayer... AWESOME! Lone Wolf mode is by far the greatest.

Do not buy an xbox because you one "one game". If you're going to buy an Xbox buy it because you want to play xbox live or for the many good games on the console.

Yeah one game/expansion never justifies the purchase of a new console.Curse you MGS4!

I'm sure this will make it to PC about 6 months or so later. It wouldn't make sense for rockstar to allow the game on PC and leave the expansion to console only.

If this is TRUE maybe PS3 will get the expansion before PC will get the expansion. :)
But Microsoft paid money to R* to keep it exclusive so yeah..so can't guess anything yet! If its going to come on PC or PS3!

....I've decided to just watch the YouTube videos of the missions that will inevitably pop up.
