Ok guys, there we go with my error :

-> It's quite a good post, with a lot of usefull infos and everything... but still, it was helpless for me... I'm still searching for a fix, a way to launch the damn game ! Even if it lag, at least, I will be able to launch it ... to play it !

As you can see on the pic, the game won't even start, I get the first black screen with white text, after that, I get the cool error you can see. I don't know what to do ... please help !

There we go with my computer :

Windows XP SP3.
GTA 4 Legal.
Windows lega.

CPU : Q9450 2.66mhz
4gig of ram
Nvidia GTX260
Sound : X-Fi Fatal1ty.
Motherboard : Striker II
Hard Disk : 2x500 gig seagate 32mb
etc....

Like I said, I have done all the steps in the link above and I don't know what to do next. Maybe someone with the same problem will tell me the answer ... maybe.... I hope !

I have heard issues of some people having trouble getting it working on XP. Seems Vista users have better luck.

Your specs are more than enough for the game, and wow 2.66mhz thats quick :P

Thanks anyway my friend. You're right ! Vista users are more lucky, I have installed vista on a second partition today and by the end of the day, GTA 4 was working, still followed the entire procedure from the forum link above. I think there is some trick on XP that we still don't know.

Anyway, I'm getting tired of the bunch of bugs, maybe I'll end up waiting like all others for a patch that will save us all *desesperate hope*.

Ok, there we goes... for the "crash at the launch under windows XP", try to go in the folder of the game and start the game DIRECTLY FROM THE .EXE in the folder, in my case, it's working properly, game is workin !! *joy cries* lol

Plus, I'll give you the best infos I have found around to solve the problem, feel free to test thoses ideas if the first don't work for you :

-> Try a no-dvd image, load it in daemon tool. (Try a no-dvd fixed .exe too)

-> Try to unplug from internet, try to launch the game when you are not connected to social club, try to unplug the net cable after the game was launched, but before the first black screen appear.

-> Some people says that it's only an installation error, uninstall and reinstall it completely.

Edit : Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.

-> I was able to launch it twice ... then, never again. Wtf? I mean .... a big "what the f..." ??? The real question here guys is "how they were able to play their own game at rockstar, how they have tested it ... if the game crash like this, it should have been the same in their studio, on their computer, are they all playing with mac?????

I'm pissed off now lol.

A new infos guys !!!

There is a small file that you can download and put in your game directory to make it work ! (It worked for me, two correct launch in a row) Ok, listen, there is 4 version of the file, depend on your bug, one of them must be missing, so test then one by one, don't forget to remove the old one .... heh.

Mine was the number 1, the others changed nothing.

Just download the xinput9_1_0.dll and put into your game folder !
