Your Views So Far...

I'm interested on seeing peoples opinions on Chinatown Wars based on the info we know so far. I know it's not much, but it'd be cool to just get peoples feedback. And please, constructive feedback. No stupid little comments like This game looks gay orDS sucks.

Here's my 2 cents. When I first saw the screens I was a bit disappointed. It looked kinda like Calling All Cars or something. Not a bad game, but not GTA esque at all. The graphics looked kinda lame and meh. However after thinking about it, the art style is pretty appropriate for the DS. Yeah, the DS isn't as powerful as the PSP spec wise, but I think that Rockstar is actually trying to utilize the DS's features features in unique ways, and that's pretty cool. I can see the whole PDA and drug trafficing features working quite well with the DS. Now I'm glad I was able to get that DS for $10. I'm looking foreward to this.

If anything, this has made me look at the PSP Games and think WOW, the difference between what they can handle is great, the PSP actually has full 3D GTA games, with Music, Cutscenes, etc, whilst this, just looks like a step above GTA Advance.

^ Yeah I sort of agree with you Ash, I reckon this is sort of a step down in the portable GTA's but it depends on what the DS is capable of. I mean for the DS I think that this game is looking great so far for the first screenshots but it is fairly early in the development process, but I will have to wait for more screenshots and some gameplay footage (trailers ect) over the comming months before I can fully judge the game. ;)

Sony did recently say there will be a bunch of high-profile third-party games heading towards the PSP, but they didn't specify any titles. It might be a new GTA game on the PSP set in the GTA IV universe. My guess is, the GTA IV era will follow the GTA III era, where:

GTA III is similar to GTA IV
GTA: VC is similar to GTA IV: Episode 1
GTA: SA is similar to GTA IV: Eipsode 2
GTA Advance is similar to GTA: Chinatown Wars
And two other GTA PSP titles to follow.

Have any of you realised that a GTA game with a decent budget (it's got the GTA name and it's going to cost $50 on a platform of which seventy-eight million are in households around the world today), but with tiny cost in the graphics department compared to console games, might actually focus on gameplay and could actually be fun?

the shootouts look very fun
