Hello, I'm new here and I have a question that I can't seem to get help with.
I just bought VC, so I load it up and all is good until I try to run it.
I get passed the start up screen and as soon as the intro is done I get a message that says "gta-vc.exe has encountered an error and will shut down".
I tried to down the rez and installed the 1.1 patch, updated my drivers (Even rolled back drivers as suggested by the developer) but, nothing works.
I am running Readeon 9200 @ 128 megs a Athalon 1.6 Mhz with 700+ DDR.
I don't know what els to do, other games work fine.
PS I even dissabled the error reporting.
Thanks in advance.

Try to re-install windows or what ever your operating system is. One or more of the files may be corrupt.

if you're playing with mods.... don't
i think you should be fine because these are the specs you should have for a good game:
MINIMUM SPEC
800Mhz Pentium III/Athlon or 1.2Ghz Celeron/Duron processor
128 MB of RAM
8 speed CD/DVD drive
915 MB free hard disk space
(+635 MB if video card does NOT support DirectX Texture Compression)
32 MB video card with DirectX compatible drivers
("GeForce" or better)
Sound Card with DirectX compatible drivers
Keyboard and Mouse
Win 98/98 SE/ME/2000 Pro with Service Pack 3/XP
with Service Pack 1
DirectX 9.0
RECOMMENDED SPEC
Intel Pentium IV or AMD Athlon XP processor
256(+)MB of RAM
16 speed CD/DVD drive
1.55GB free hard disk space
(+635 MB if video card does NOT support DirectX Texture Compression)
64(+) video card with DirectX compatible drivers
("GeForce 3"/"Radeon 8500" or better with DirectX Texture Compression support)
DirectX compatible sound card with surround sound
Gamepad (USB or Joystick Port)
Keyboard and Mouse
Win 98/98 SE/ME/200 Pro with Service Pack 3/XP with Service Pack 1
DirectX 9.0
if the store allows you to, try returning it for another one.. the game might be corrupt

I updated my video drivers but, I didnt update my sound card driver. Could the sound card do it?

probably not, but it's always nice to have everything updated just in case.

I have the same problem and am yet to find a solution, all my specs are fine, all other games work, no mods, brand new original copy, works fine on another system. You are not alone, Good Luck, I have been seeking a solution for ages....will post if I find one....

It actually is quite likely it is your sound card, if your sound card isn't 100% direct X compatable it may have a problem with the game, other games tend to be OK with other sound cards, but i don't think Vice City is.

Hi! I'm also new here abd I've read your problem.
That's the same thing happened to my nba live 2004. And I also fixed it.
If you have another GTA programs in your computer, reomve it so that your system wouldn't urge itself to view/manipulate 2 thesame database with 2 different content and system.
Just try this. Hope it'll work.
God Bless!!:D :) :wink2: ;)
