does anyone even have a DS?
This is another title I'll never play in my life.
I don't have enough interest in the DS nor do i want to buy 1 for a single game, even if it is GTA.

That is very true there, unless if it gets ported to the PS2/PS3 I proberly won't be playing this GTA...
I made this topic for those who are interested in this game (Not saying that I'm not interested, I'll still follow this game;) ).

Hmm... I think I'll have to buy a DS for this game. As it is made exclusively and developed specifically for Nintendo's DS dual Touch Screen interface, I don't think it'll be ported to the PS2/PS3/PC/Xbox 360. But maybe the Wii? I don't know.

Bleh, I have a PSP, and the DS is WAY underpowered compared to it. The only cool thing about the DS is the touchscreen. Besides that, Rockstar should make another GTA for the PSP.
I'm sure they weren't satisfied with the sales of LCS and VCS, which may be one reason they're not making a PSP title right now.

Im getting a DS now. I was already interested in it due to the mass amount of people i see who love it. The Mario Games obviously are great and now that a GTA will hit it. I plan on it. Pending on screenshots.
Also graphics aren't the most important thing to me, so i don't care. Top down or 3d, i dont care.

I have a DS, but only for Brain Age and some Japanese titled games.
My little sister has one, she found NFS: Most Wanted for the GBA which I completed and I sometimes borrow it to play Mario when I'm taking long bus journeys by myself.

Yes, I was also wondering what the specs are. I'm not too picky, I mean I still have all my old consoles.
The DS' power is about equivalent to that of the Nintendo 64.

The DS is the most sold console next to the PS2, the DS has sold 76.65 million times. I guess you are quite ignorant and blinded by sony.

I'm gonna buy a new PSP for Resistance. Maybe I could play this on the Wii though.
LOL, Chinatown Wars. If I want to kill some Triad gang members then I'll just pop in Liberty City Stories for my PSP. Can't wait to see how this will turn out.

I don't think Rockstar is making this just to get money. I mean, there are tons of die-hard Nintendo supporters that want to play GTA. Rockstar is making a good choice, getting a larger fanbase.

Seriously though, I know many Nintendo fans that don't have very high expectations about Chinatown Wars. And the casual fanbase will most likely not be purchasing the game.
No need to be negative. This could be a very successful release for the handheld world, or a complete flop.
Let's not hate on it until we at least know what it's going to be like.
I'm not being negative, just relaying what I heard/what's likely to occur.

I've seen the screens, and disapointed, the DS can do soo much more, if anything this has made me look at the PSP games and think "WOW".

From the screenshots and the story, I think it looks pretty damn good. I'm definitely getting a DS. I'll also be picking up GTA Advance, which I missed.
Well, thanks Rockstar! You made my day! I would never ever had thought that they would make a GTA game based on the Chinese and the Triads! As a Chinese boy and a big GTA fan, I'd like to say kudos to Rockstar! This game really has a lot of meaning for me. It's something close to my heart, so to speak.

@blaze: My bet is that the main character will be an aisan or chinese guy, by the way by the looks of the current screenshots, to be honest, the detail seem's to be focussed more on the enviroment rather than the characters. But I guess we'll have to wait and see.

The main character is Chinese (like me, yeah!). His name is Huang Lee, which is kinda wierd, because most Chinese have Lee as the surname. Check out the Chinatown Wars pages in GTAGaming. It's already revealed.

The game kinda looks 3d a little because compared to the older gta's this one looks more filled out.

it is called the overhead isometric camera view which means the camera is put in a postion for a better view
For ex-sample Sonic 3d is overhead isometric camera view

I reckon that there will be the sort of weapons that were in GTA2, eg; 1 type of Handgun, sub-machine gun, rocket launcher, ect. I don't think that there will be multiple weapons in each catergory as there is in the bigger GTA games, that is just my guess so I could be wrong.

Blaze0785 as J.Z says the selection of weapons will be small. But Since the DS has internet connection maybe in the future rockstar might add the ability to download weapons and add-ons to the game which will include more weapons
