You probably forgot to replace the .txd file... I did the same thing one time.

Its because your graphics cards cannot cope with the new textures. You know when you 1st installed VC it said converting textures to optimize your graphics card?? it needs to do that again. There is a file you need to delete for it to do that. I can't remember but i think its the txd.img file. But don't go and delete it because i said because I'm not sure. So back it up 1st.

jeeze people... read the topics that are stickied for cripes sake!
If you're getting white cars in Vice City, follow this procedure and it should all resolve itself.
1. Browse to C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Vice City (or wherever you installed it)
2. Open the Models directory
3. DELETE the file named GTA3.dir (Do not delete GTA3.img)
4. Restart GTA Vice City, and you should see a message informing you that the textures are being converted to an optimal format for your video card.
Unfortunately, you'll probably have to do this every time you install a mod. It's all because your card doesn't support DirectX Texture compression. A good solution would be to buy a new video card, anything above the Geforce 3 or ATi Radeon 8xxx range should do.

Actually, I had the same problem before where you get white cars and stuff. I did what someone said here and deleted the file and it worked fine. But then when I wanted to take the skins off, I couldn't. So I reinstalled the game, and now those skins that I changed previously are all white and I can't change them back. Anyone know what to do?
This is because the proper way to install vehicles and modifications for GTA Vice City is with the IMG Tool, and editing certain files which control certain aspects of the car. The vcmm isnt really the best way to install cars, its only the easiest. And most mods can be found in manual install mode aswell as vcmm.

if it's a vcm mod, it's a manual mod... all mods can be installed manually. if you check out brokenfish's thread in the mod shack forums about installing mods, you'll see how easy it is to install manual mods.
personally, i install mods manually and occasionally use gta mod installer if i want it to be done quickly.

wot works best for me is to delete TXD.IMG in the MODELS folder. that always solves the proplem for me.

omg...like i said in the thread rappo posted above, you just replace the txd file with the one in the txd.img, that is all you need to do after gta3.img, now ou dont have to wait liek 10-20 for the thing to finish loading :D, but i dont like vcm, its all weird and buggy so i rather manual install my cars
