I always stop my bleeding by first washing it off, putting alcohol on it then wraping with with a towel.

Ice. It constricts the blood flow, thus making you bleed less. I think. Or cold water. Anything cold.

See, when you cut your wrists, it's best to get in a tub of hot water so that the blood flows out quicker. At least according to my teacher.

Super glue. It is what it was originally designed to do (that plus stick the guts of wounded soldiers back in).

I usually just put my mouth on it and drink the blood.

If it's still bleeding in half an hour, inform me.

I'll send my pale Romanian roommate your way.

@YJ: Yeah, but most guys don't like putting meat in their mouth, if it isn't dead.

Try to elevate it so less blood flow reaches it, and ice it and wrap it

Edit: Oh, nvm, probably should of read the whole thread

Hold wound up (so all blood rushes down), then take a cloth and wrap it tightly on the wound to stop blood flowing out.

Yeah, I remember I once started bleeding from the lip (I have a lip-biting problem) and it didn't stop for a very, very long time. I went through 3 ice cubes to stop the bleeding. It was pretty bad, but eh.

This does work, I do ag work and working around equipment and the rigs you get tore up on a regular basis, all foremans here and most of the drivers carry tubes of the loctite version of crazy glue around with them for that reason, burns like hell for a second but works as well as stitches

Ah....the old salt method.

The following advice is coming from a cook. I've nearly severed fingers on many occasions. I've lost large chunks of skin, cut myself to the point where my finger bones were STICKING OUT of the tips of my fingers...

The problem with salt is this...people just dump it on a wound and think "ok this should work." No. You have to work it DEEP into the cut. INTO IT. Not on it. I will honestly say that this is one of the worst pains I have experienced. Case in point: I had slit my left index finger down so bad from the tip in a vertical manner in relation to my finger, that the skin literally just flopped back off the bone and my bone was honestly sticking out. I grabbed a can of kosher salt (table salt works as well, but kosher is best from my experiences) and dumped it onto the skin flap squeezed it in, then pulled the skin back over my bone and wrapped it in scotch tape within 20 seconds of cutting it. I blacked out from the shock of the salt in the wound. Working it in deep is the only real way to get effective quick results, and it hurts like a 10 dollar hooker stomping on your balls with stilettos.

If you don't like pain, take triple antibiotic cream and work it into the wound and wrap tightly, but don't cut off circulation otherwise the platelets will not get to the wound and seal off the blood vessels. Leave it wrapped for like 20 minutes. Take off the bandage, work in more cream, wrap again.

Of course the ultimate way would be to cauterize the wound with a hot blade....but fuck that, I'm not Dolph fucking Lundgren.

Compression only stops bleeding, but prevents the wound from closing up with platelets as fast as it should. So while it's good in emergency situations, for anything non life threatening, it's not best.
