GTA San Andreas: The Facts
The game will be called Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and will be released only for Playstation 2 on October 19th in the USA and October 22nd in Europe. Other formats have not been ruled out, but expect a delay of around the same time as it took to port Vice City to other platforms. This isn't out of "laziness" by Rockstar, instead it's for contractural reasons and the exclusiveity of the game to Playstation 2 while it's in it's prime. The only image to have been released is below:

All other images, including "screenshots" are fake.

No information related to any aspect of gameplay has been released. This includes Setting (Time, Place), Characters, Gameplay, Cars, Swimming etc.

I hope this sorts fact from rumour. Remember, nobody has a "friend at Rockstar" since the company does an incredibly good job at staying tight lipped about the game. And if you "heard gameplay element X is in San Andreas" it's purely rumour, and let's face it, rumours are made up by people with nothing better to do than fantasise about this game.

the game will be out when....October? thats about....6 months.
so they should at least give us 2-3 screenshots in April to keep us on the prowl and keep us happy, ;), and then release more, like about...10 screenshots in....June-July...that seems about right...right?

I saw on gtagaming.com that Rockstar told the "press" about a few of the numerous characters who will star in San Andreas. All I saw last time I've been there is that it said the main charater will be Maccer, and some other characters included are Mad Dogg and Maria.

I don't really think that you have to be in the gaming industry to get a pass, I mean come on, that's the idea of E3, they want gamers to come in and actually see what games are gonna be good and which ones won't, of course there might be a "closed" area only for VIP's or the press, but that shouldn't stop "average" people from coming in

they do let public in on certain days....they did last year if i remember correctly. but to get into special releases like when they showed the kingdom hearts trailer last year you gotta be special.

its a trade-only event and you need an invitation/pass to get in. if they let the public in... insane gamers would rush through the doors and stomp on everyone in their path. it's much more professional than that.

You're going to have to wait, everything takes time because they're still working on GTA: San Andreas for PS2. I personally don't give a rat's ass about the PC version. I'm WAY more anxious waiting for the PS2 version. BTW, that doesn't mean I wont by the PC version of San Andreas if it unfortunately debuts on it since I'll probably have my computer upgraded to its max by then.

It'd be a pretty hard game to demo as there aren't really any 'levels' or anything so they couldn't release just 'level 1' like most demos of games do. They'd have to release a whole city or something which is pretty unlikely.

I'm 99% sure it won't be a demo and I was 80% sure that guy was Carl. There most likely won't be a demo and SA most likely will be better than VC since the AI is smarter, The game is 3-4 times as big, and there are more things you can do like play at a casino. If you bought any of the other GTA's on PS2 and liked them I wouldn't understand why you wouldn't buy this one.

Actually in when the first GTA came out the released a demo i which you were allowed to do anything for up to 500 seconds. This was similar to the GTA2 demo which allowed you to roam for 5 minutes

What i would like to see is R* changing the game from an arcade style. Like removing the highlighted circles like when you use the phone. I think it will add depth to the simulation and make it seem more realistic.

Also if bikes are included (which owing to the screenshots i would bet my house on) people claim that it will be a tapping motion to cycle. It is quite complicated and tiring to tap one or two buttons constantly whilst steering and shooting. I hope the developers find away of making the bicycles different from the motorbikes whilst maing them simple to control

I've just looked at the picture of the bike again and I think your right Carfanatic, it certainly looks like a dog to me. I zoomed in on the area and a dog seems very possible.

Someone at gta-sanandreas has rightly pointed out that the first page of the GI article says the style of the game is 1-player, this is on the page, not in the article. This must rule out the possibility of online or even 2 player action. Sorry to break the news.

Not really disappointed, online play wouldn't do me that much good. Single-player is just GTA's original style which fits best.
