Text Message Cars Issue

Hi there. I'm posting this because I'm working toward completing 100% of the game, have finished the story, and just recently realized that I have no idea where to begin with the text message car missions. I vaguely remember Brucie telling me something about this Steve guy a long time ago, but I dismissed it and continued on with the story. Now I'm finishing things up, and from what I've read the cars are not marked on the map in any way, do not even appear until you are sent a random picture message, and you have to find them with only this message for guidance. This is fine, except I don't have ANY text messages from Steve. I went back through every one that was still in my phone, and I have no idea what to do except use a map to look in all 20 locations. So while I'm doing that, which is probably going to make me want to bash my head into a wall, I figured I would post here asking for help. Thanks in advance.

Double check your texts. If Steve ever sent you one you'll have it as you cannot delete his texts until you have done it.

It should be somewhere in your text messages. Use those, in conjunction with either whattheydonotwantyoutoknow.com or the (real) internet and they shouldn't be too hard to find.

I have checked them over and over again. There is nothing from him. Is it possible that I somehow finished the story without getting a message from this guy? I'm already going to use a guide to try and scope the locations, but if none of the cars have even spawned I guess that won't help much.

Try getting friendlier with Brucie? Have you finished Brucie's car stealing from the emails?

I got the text about the same time as I finished Brucie's last car grab.

All of my friends are or have been at 100% throughout the entire game. I have completed all the e-mail car missions as well.

I'm having the same problem

I have the Stevie Glitch as well, soon to be documented as
the only way to prohibit 100% completion.

Many of us in various GTA forums, and friends locally,
have never received the initial text from Steve.

I've called Rockstar again, representing all the members
of GTA Domain, as the administrator, and we have
troubleshot the following:

Brucie 100% respect and like
All 9 races completed, first place
No. 1 mission completed
Smackdown mission completed
Phil Bell missions started
Checked all texts, countless times.
EDIT: Bohan S&M garage already appears

Now in the line of several people
in other forums and blogs, we've noticed
that Autosave, nor Manual Safehouse saving,
keeps cell phone imagery, PS3 or XBox 360.
Static Memory erasing perhaps.

Personally I don't rememebr ever recieving the
original phone call from Brucie, informing me of Steve.
Many people I know start out right there, with the glitch.

Rockstar Support made out a level one ticket for me,
but only based on a game save corruption, which is
again, going to be PS3/XBox 360 hardware related issues,
not the game coding and/or programming.
They will not escalate this to level two until we start
a new game over, and get up to this point to see if we
recieve the call from Brucie, and the initial text message from Steve.

Again, we have checked everything on our systems.
I run an XBox 360 Elite, and usually manually save at the safe houses.

Zidane, or anyone at the top and in-the-know here,
have you heard of the Steve Glitch, and have any solutions?
I know you went to Rockstar NY,(nice, by the way)
we used to be hosted by GTAGaming over at the GTA Domain.
I'm the admin over there for Nick. Any help would be appreciated.

You know me FG, we are advocates of finding out exactly what is going on.

Many people have achieved 100%, so the simple fact may be that Rockstar is
correct in handing out the advice of a game save corruption issue.

Regardless, I've now gone back to a previous save, before the garage exists.

This is now a game of progress forward one step, look back three.

Everytime I turn the console off at night, next play I check to see if the garage has appeared.
This is simply because if what R* says is true, then game save corruption is PREVENTING
the call from Brucie, or Steve's photo text.

All the previous "new progresses" have now been over-written, and we'll see how it goes.
So I'm back now, to just the beginning of Alderney. No S & M Garage on map.

Brucie = 100% Respect/Like
ALL Exotic Imports = Complete
ALL Street Races = Complete

Have not completed Smackdown, I beleieve that is a requirement.

I'm stuck in this glitch, too. the sad thing is, after completing the story, i even killed the flying rats. everyone who did this knows how bad it is, even with online guides it took forever. i hope someone finds a way to get out of this, because i wont do the pigeons again. and everytime i read about it people say they took an old savegame. i'm not gonna touch this game again, until there's a solution to this. maybe it means goodbye to gta... please help. they should bring out an update, that gives us another chance... i don't wanna sell gta, I'm a huge fan, but i lost all motivation, plus some extra frustration!!!
