Gangs from GTA3? *POSSIBLE SPOILERS*

What all gangs are in IV that were in III?

I've noticed the Triads of course, but are any other gangs in it? Like the Cartel, Yardies, Diablos, or Southside Hoods or anything?

Also, I've noticed that gangs aren't really a deal anymore in the series, it's moved on to more of "family" type groups.

It was annoying in GTA3 when you kill Salvatore (which makes mafia eternally pissed at you) and thus the mafia (armed with shotguns) immediately opens fire on you whenever you pass in a vehicle (which usually blows up near-instantly thanks to shotguns) or on foot. Ergo passing Saint Marks when doing side-missions (police, ambulance, etc) was near-impossible.

Of course by the time you reached the end of the game, just about every gang wants you dead and you always had to avoid bullets in certain areas. I'm sure this happens in GTA IV to a lesser extent, but at least now the police pay attention to people shooting at you and you can even call the police for help.

the other day, i came out the pay n spray in Dukes, and was ambushed by 6 guys in 3 pickup trucks, all wearing brown jacket, i don't know what the hell i did to deserve it, but they looked like a gang, all had guns and were shooting me from the trucks, i died in a few seconds, as i wasnt expecitng it, but i havent seen any such gangs scince...

If you've finished Dimitris missions, I think it's the Russian Mafia. I was ambushed by some aswell, they mostly drive "tuned" Uranus'.

Edit: And if you've done the mission where you can
Kill either Playboy X or Dwayne and you kill Playboy X
(do not read if you haven't got to Algonquin and finished the Dwayne/Playboy X storyline!)
you get ambushed by a gang, they mostly drive hummers. You'll find them round the Tw@ cafe in Algonquin a lot, they'll start fights on you.

I haven't been ambushed by any gangs yet..Almost done with the game too.
