i just beat the game and at the end i decided to get revenge on dimitry or w/e his name is and and that pisses pegorino or w/e off so what happens if you do the deal with him does kate still die??

Yeah, both choices are tough to make.
I like to refer to the two endings as the bad ending(Kate gets gunned down by Pegerino because Niko refused to deal with Dimitri. Leading to Niko taking out Pegorino under the Statue of Happiness) and the worse ending (Roman gets hit with a stray shot from Niko's struggle with the assassin and dies. Leading to Niko getting revenge on Dimitri under the Statue of Happiness). There's no good, living happily ever after ending in this one.:zcab:
