Cant play the multiplayer?

everytime i try it says exiting and returning to single player. like i cant start a room but sometimes i can join.

Last night I got reconnected a few times, thought I had the dreaded ban but there was an "Inside Xbox" Update which was probably the reason. It's just the servers mate, 1000's of people are running this game online. M$ will just get some more servers in soon.

Ugh, this is really making me angry. I'm having the same problem right now, and have been since I got the game. Once in a while and not very often, I'll conenct to a game, but even then it kicks me off out of nowhere. Usually the closest I get to a game is just where it says loading, and I can hear the people talking and it just returns to the single player game. Does anyone know why I can't play online?

Im having problems with my MP aswell. I can connect to a game but 5-10 minutes in, it comes up with something saying i'm the only one left in the match. I check the other peoples GT and there still in it so Im not the only one left it's probely a disconnection problem!? Help!

If you haven't already there a couple of things you may want to do to check in regards to your router. First, make sure your router firmware is up to date, if, like my 1.5 year old Belkin, they no longer support your hardware version, you still can try a couple of things. Once your router is up to date, if you are still having the MP problem, try forwarding UDP port 3074, also for Xbox Live you can forward ports TCP 3074 and UDP 88. You can also place your 360's IP address in a DMZ.

Some people have had success with the above suggestions, however, my Belkin still didn't work. My final test was to plug my 360 directly into my cable modem...and like magic, my MP problems were solved. Since Belkin doesn't wish to support my V2 hardware with firmware updates, which probably could have fixed whatever problem is going on with my router, I just ordered a Linksys WRT54GL from newegg.com. Everyone seems to like this router especially with a 3rd party firmware upgrade such as Tomato or DD-WRT.

My solution sucks, since I really don't want to get a new router, but I am completely sick of the aggravation I'm experiencing with my current router and trying to play GTA IV MP. I hope everyone experiencing a problem finds a solution that works for them. Good luck.
