Thanks to the IGN US and IGN UK reviews, Metacritic now has 4 reviews for the Xbox 360 version of GTA IV (Xbox World 360 and OXM UK are the other two). Since 3 of the 4 were perfect, and the other was a 98, Metacritic now has an official score of 100 for GTA IV. Not sure how long it will last as new reviews come in, but for now you can go there and at least take a screen grab or something, for posterity :dy:
PS - The PS3 version only has 3 reviews, so no official score yet.

It's bloody good that GTA IV is getting perfect 10's in reveiws, I wonder if it will last?
I am a little concerned about the GameSpot, they've got some harsh reviewers.

I agree with Asif, with Gamespots reviewers I highly doubt they'll score GTA IV a 10.

Call me crazy but I can see gamespot giving it a 10, the game seems to be that damn good. The last perfect 10 I remember them giving out was I think Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 for PS2 which I thought wasn't THAT great. Gamespot does give 10s and I think this one is deserving.
I don't think a perfect score is something which should ever be awarded to any game. In my opinion, it implies that the game is perfect and can never be beaten, but as we've seen with all the massive games in the past, better things do come along given time.

Gamespot just give 10's to the highest bidder

In their opinion the game is perfect, but as time goes on people will discover imperfections.

well then i guess the score is based upon what has been/is available, not what could happen.
so a 10 means, at the moment, its the greatest game there is

Wrong, it implies that the game is damn good in their ratings and is worth getting for.
The next game could be 10 still, wouldn't beat GTAIV in popularity and still be damn good and worth getting for.

I forget the exact language Hilary used, but his explanation of what a 10 means at the end of his IGN review was spot-on in my opinion.
How the game pushed the boundaries etc.

Right. I decided to stop being lazy and go get the language, so here it is:
A 10 doesn't mean a game is perfect -- it means a game is pushing boundaries, expanding a genre, and doing many things to a level so far above and beyond its competitors that they overshadows any flaws.

As with GTA, usually nothing better comes out until another GTA.

yea dillinja right there are other games that are better than San Andreas but nothing else was better in it's genre till the next GTA came out

San Andreas was well and truly trumped in the fun stakes by Saints Row in my opinion. Both games had a crappy story though.

That doesn't make sense. Why would you even have a 10 if no game could ever achieve it?
No game (or any other thing) will ever be perfect. 10 just means that it's amongst the very best things out there.

perfect score mean that the game itself are masterpiece and very memorable. I'm sure that majority of us can remember the perfect score game than those low score crappy game. Therefore, it will be the game that WILL be around here for long time instead insert in forgetten closet.

Just an update - the game still has a perfect Metacritic score and there are now 12 reviews recorded for the 360 and 10 for the PS3. It has a 100/100 score for both platforms.

Well, I checked this morning and the 360 now has 17 reviews and a 99 score. It appears that a 98 from IGN Australia knocked it down 1 point to 99 because no other new sub-100 reviews came in overnight. The PS3, however, still has a 100 rating off of 14 reviews.
