Well, today I met Duff McKagan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duff_McKagan), the bassist from the legendary Guns 'N Roses. Him and his new band Velvet Revolver are playing here in Glasgow tonight, and he was signing guitars, basses, posters and even an original GNR vinyl record.
As this was the first 'famous person' I've ever met, I was absolutely shitting myself, so when i finally got up to talk to him, i was literally speechless. :P
Here is a picture of my friend going up to meet him.
Woop (http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x287/Nick-Fuzzeh/20-03-08_1525edit.jpg)
He signed a poster and i got a piece of paper signed, so i was really thrilled. He was actually a really nice guy, real friendly, and even though the signing was set to be an hour only, he stayed for an extra half hour to get everyone's things signed.
Anyway, has anyone else met someone famous, or got anything signed by them? I'm sure there will be alot of you. :P

I've met a few hockey players before. Music-wise, I've met the entire band Crush and got a poster I found on the ground signed by each of them. I've also met two members of the band Ill Scarlet and got my ticket signed. They're not as über-famous as Duff McKagan, but it was still pretty cool.
I've never left my province and I'm too lazy to leave the island to see concerts and what not.. so no. :(
I've met Phil from The Twang, and Lovefoxxx from CSS gave me a nice smile. Also, Foals are doing a signing in London next week, so will hopefully meet them then.

Rise Against
got a signed poster by them
Only some famous Dutch guys. For the Dutchies here:
Brigitte Kaandorp (gisteren nog bij me werk, heh)
Loes Luca
Paul de Leeuw
I never personally met any artist of international fame, but my father is a friend of Marco Borsato, pretty much unambiguously the most popular Dutch-only pop singer in the country (seriously, this guy sells singles like he was a hot chick selling one dollar blowjobs; if you count the time he's spent on the number one spot in the Dutch pop charts with all his hit singles it'd add up to like 50 weeks total). I can't say I'm fond of his music, but I can understand the commercial appeal.
I've been to a few of his parties, including one he threw because one of his songs became the best selling single in the Netherlands of that year, shitloads of Dutch celebrities there. I'm not much of a celeb interestee, but it's pretty cool being around national celebrities, even if you don't like whatever they did to become famous (which I most often don't, every famous Dutch person who did anything worthwhile has already left the country to do it somewhere else, believe me).

I've met Frank Bruno, Harry Redknapp. A few of the Arsenal football team, some of the Portsmouth football team.
I've talked with Al Pacino believe it or not.. it was a very casual talk. He was giving a speech where my mom works, and i was just dropping by saying hi to my mom.
I just hate those people who go all haywire when they meet some famous person... i mean come on they're human like yourself...

I met Muhammad Ali at the Mirage in Las Vegas, I gave him my Ice Cream. It was probably one of the greatest/saddest experiences of my life.
My dads best friend is Keith "Lucky" Lehere, the o.g. drummer for Circle Jerks. They went to Hebrew school/middleschool/highschool together and have been bestfriends since the 8th grade.
I shook hands with Del the Funkee Homosapien and kicked it with Travis from Gym Class Heroes but he was so wasted I doubt he even remembers the night.
You met Ali... cool! He's definitely one of my boxing legends..

It was so sad because he was smiling but because of the Parkinsons he can't talk, so he was just sorta wimpering. People were surrounding him and crying as they shook his hand.
I had no idea what the big deal was since i was about 11 or so.
But as I look back on it it was amazing.

I've seen Robert De Niro in person, and Matt Damon, not really met them though as in greet them as it was crowded and they were being hassled enough. I've met Jesse Hughes from Eagles of Death Metal, shook his hand, had a quick chat with him, etc. I've shook Mark Lanegans hand during a small show he done at the Academy in Manchester. I've met Hutch, the sound guy for Queens of the Stone Age two times, saw him a third, he remembered me. I've met Mikey Shoes, the current bassest for Queens of the Stone Age outside before a gig. I've met Josh Homme, frontman of Queens of the Stone Age, shook his hand, took a picture of him, asked if I wanted a picture, I said no, he signed my ticket, had a brief chat. Other people I've met are just people on TV over here such as Peter Kay, Will Mellor, etc.

I met Matt Hoffman at an auto show a few years go. My friends all got autographed pictures from him, but I wasn't into BMXing that much so I'm like "Long line, huh" and He said "Yeah, it is, heh".
I almost had a chance to meet Magic Johnson. He was at the Meijer (grocery store) in Cascade, Michigan (I used to live real close to there) signing autographs THE DAY AFTER we went there for food and groceries. I have a rookie card of him that I would have killed to have him sign. Very classy guy though, even though I never did get to meet him.
And I could have met Steve Nash during warmups an hour before the game against the Hornets when they were here in OKC if I ran onto the court but that would have been awkwaaaard. I was like, "man, all those little kids get to shoot around and mess around with the players but I can't? :(" Meh, oh well. Sucks too since the Suns have been my favorite sports team since I was like 7 or 8.

I shook hands with a member of a famous dutch rap group, then I passed my joint to him.
I know I have met more famous people, but I really can't remember right now.

My friend hung out with them on several occasions, but before they got famous.
Anyways I have never met anyone famous, but I have a interesting story "Paul Radriguez could have been my father, and the town I live in used to have a festival for the baseball player Sam Rice (only famous person to come out of our town). Though later he found to have cheated in the World Series. Some player huh.
I was at the Hot Fuzz Premiere in London so I saw Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. I met Beckham like 8 years ago in Marks and Spenser's. Thats about it.
The Shy Child.

I went to Florida, Orlando, and Tiger Woods was signing some some autographs, so I got him to sign my hat, it was perfect seeing as I was wearing a nike hat at the time.
I also seen Sean Connery in a cafe, I got him to sign a napkin for me, I thought he must hate signing autographs, but he rather enjoyed the small group around him, because he told us what it was like to be james bond and what he thinks of james bond now.

Worked in the Film/TV studios for just over two years, always where the camera was, met quite a few, for the most part they are all just regular folks trying to make some money, it's the ones that let it go to their head and the ones that most people are trying to get a piece of, that are not too cool. One day, was standing on the corner at the entrance to Warner Brothers after work, was talking to another guy, and we were talking about our favorite actors, well I told him that one of my favorites was an older actor Howard Duff. The other guy nodded in agreement, then I turned around and there was a coca brown 1956 Cadillac convertable, with Howard Duff driving, he smiled and said " Thanks guys:)" True. Yeah, most are just plain folks, but have everyone after them.
A good friend met Ali once, and said he is a super person. Wish I could meet him.

I know Suffa from Hilltop Hoods, met him a couple of times at New Years 2006 and 2007.
I met Arnold Schwarzenegger (Spell that right?) at JFK Airport back in 2003. Hes not as tall as he looks in his movies, especially in Terminator, he looks 7 ft.

Never met anyone 'famous' myself. I wouldn't mind meeting some famous people that genuinely interest me as people, but I wouldn't be the type to be like 'LYKE OH EM GEE I LURVE U SIGN MY EVERYTHANG!'
Which is not to say that I wouldn't get an autograph :P I just wouldn't be a retard about it.
edit: Not saying anyone in this thread's like that btw, you know what I mean. Some people worship celebrity, I just...don't get it.
edit2: ^ok, that's cool. Yeah, I know all those names and have met a few, but didn't figure they'd be worth mentioning because most people on here don't really follow drag racing :P. But yeah, I've met Tony Pedragon and John Force and some monster truck drivers whose names I can't think of right now.

Clayton yep I hear ya, I dont really know what anyone would consider a "celebrity", it goes by age, location and what they are into, and even then some, like gene winfield....well he may have been a genius carbuilder back in the 50s-60s...but he's still in the 50s if you know what I mean.when he tried teaching abut lowering suspensions by heating the coilsprings...was time for me to leave.

I rode in a tram down a mountain with Tom Cruise's realestate agent. That's about it though.
And my friend swears that Morgan Freeman bought chicken from him at where he works.

I've met a number of NZ famous types, but that's no so hard to do here (people may have heard of Russell Couts though?).
International wise, Sum 41 and Benji from Good Charlotte (lulz?) are probably the most famous. Benji was actually quite cool, I think he was just glad to meet someone who wasn't a 14 year old girl. (I drove my younger sister to these things you see).
Also Terry Pratchett at a book signing.

I've met Charlie Simpson (Singer from Fightstar and Busted). He sat next to me on a train and we talked for a bit. He was really cool and generally a nice guy.
I've also seen a ton of famous people from a distance, but I don't go running upto them. Derek Accorah (Spelt Wrong?) winked at me in Tesco the other week because he lives locally. I was staring at him after my significant other said it was him.

I personally have never met any famous people, but My Great-Grampa bets all you guys.
When he was about twelve, he met Henry Ford, and He met him on several occasions, even becoming a small friend, and in that time(1920s) Ford was one of the richest and most powerful people in the world. Ever since then, hes met the Detroit tigers, Frank Sinatra, George Romney, and hes worked at the Republican Convetion a few times. He has one of the greatest life stories ever told.

No one famous in pop culture, but I got to shake hands with George Smoot at a football game after he won the Nobel Prize. We have buttloads of famous people around here all the time, if I made an effort I guess I could actually meet one but too lazy.
